DR. LEE CHRISTINE BZDIL AS THE DISTRICT’S NEXT SUPERINTENDENT

MILLERSBURG, PA – The Millersburg Area Board of School Directors is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Lee Christine Bzdil as the district’s next superintendent. Dr. Bzdil emerged as the successful candidate in a search that featured a series of well-qualified candidates. Dr. Bzdil will officially begin as superintendent on July 1.

“I am honored to serve as the next superintendent of the Millersburg Area School District, and I am deeply grateful to the board for giving me this opportunity,” Dr. Bzdil said. “From the moment I started to engage with the Board, and later with administrators and staff members, I sensed a ‘family’ atmosphere.  I am thrilled to begin this journey and see Millersburg as a place I will serve for many years. I am filled with excitement to build relationships with staff, students and their families,” Bzdil added.

“We see Dr. Bzdil as someone who will effectively collaborate with our entire staff and dedicate herself to Millersburg,” Board President Jason Minnich said. “What also impressed the Board was that she is a champion for the underprivileged and those students who may be struggling. She has a real sense of the challenges so many kids face today, and genuinely seems to lead from the heart,” Minnich added.

Dr. Bzdil began her career providing therapeutic staff support for Concern Counseling Services before becoming a Head Start Teacher at the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU). From there, she spent two years as a Special Education Teacher at the CSIU moving to her home district, Lewisburg, to teach special education for the next six years. Dr. Bzdil began her administrative career as the Director of Special Education in the Juniata County School District and served for six years as the Director of Special Education in the Midd-West SD. She currently serves as the Emotional Support Program Supervisor at the Capital Area Intermediate Unit.

Dr. Bzdil earned a bachelor's degree from Bucknell University in Elementary Education. Her master’s degree was earned at Bloomsburg University, and she received her doctorate, along with her Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility, from Drexel University.

“The Board expresses its deepest appreciation to Dr. Dan Potutschnig for his exemplary leadership and dedication to our district, and once again to Dr. Brian Toth for stepping in so effectively as our interim superintendent as we conducted the search, Minnich concluded.
