There are many exciting activities happening in the Middle School during the next few weeks including the Spring Fling Dance, 5th grade Orientation Day, 6-8 Grade Trips, Middle School Picnics, and Spring Break Day. Be sure to check the website often for information about all these activities. As always, if you have any questions, call the Middle School office or send me an email.
The third marking period ended on Friday, March 31. Report Cards are schedule to be distributed on Friday, April 7, 2017. This week begins to first round of PSSA Exams. Students will be taking the ELA PSSA Exams on April 3 - 6. These exams will be followed later in the month by the PSSA Math Exams and the PSSA Science Exams (grade 8). Students should get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast before taking exams. Healthy breakfasts are available in the MS/HS Cafeteria from 7:30 - 8:05 each day.
Report Cards for the first semester will be distributed on Monday, January 30, 2017. Students will return to homeroom at the end of the day and should be bringing report cards home after school. If you have any questions about your child's report card or progress during the first semester contact his/her teachers or give us a call in the High School Office. Parent Conferences Forms are also due on Monday, January 30, 2017. Students whould return these forms to their homeroom teachers.
Report Cards will be distributed to students today at the end of school. The Report Cards list student's 1st marking period grades. I encourage all parents to look over the report card with your children and check on their progress. It's hard to believe that we are into the 2nd marking period already. If you have any concerns about your child's grade or progress in a particular class, now is the time to schedule a parent conference with his/her teacher(s). Your son/daughter will be bringing home a form for you to schedule conferences. I encourage you to schedule conferences with your child's teachers even if they are doing well. It's a great opportunity to speak to teachers one on one and see what is being taught in the classroom. If you are unable to come in during conferences, please contact the middle school office and we will have the teacher contact you. Parent Conferences will be held on the evening of Monday, November 21 from 6:30-8:45 PM and Tuesday, November 22 from 8:00-2:45.
Yes, it's mid-marking period. I can't even believe that I'm typing that. Thursday, Sept. 29 marks the mid point of the first marking period. This is a great time for parents to check the Parent Portal to see how your child is doing in school. Teachers will be writing Progress Reports this week and we will mail them the week of Oct. 3. Teacher's web pages are a good source of information for parents. There you will also find teacher's email addresses. Email is a great way to contact teachers if you have questions. Teachers also have phones in their classrooms now. If you call the office, you can be directed to a teacher's voice mail. As always, if you have any questions about anything else, give me a call in the office. Here's to a great 7/8 of the rest of the school year!!
Members of the HS Student Council welcomed all students to a new year as they entered the building today. After a meeting in the auditorium, MS students had an extended homeroom period and then followed an abbreviated schedule meeting all of their teachers. I was very impressed with the energy, enthusiasm, and excellent behavior of the MS students today. Special congraulations to Kaidance S, Kaylee W., and Rylan M. for receiving the first "Mr. Shover Awards" at this morning's assembly. All three students will be treated to an ice cream at Williams on the square. It was a great beginning to what looks to be a great school year!
Well, it's just two more weeks until the students return for another school year. The band had another successful Band Camp, and today the Fall Sports Teams all begin practicing. We are excited for the beginning of the 2016-17 school year and are eagerly preparing things in our offices and awaiting the arrival of the students for the first day of school - Monday, August 29. We will open the Parent Portal later this week. Any parents who have not signed up for a password are encouraged to do so at Back-To-School Night on Thursday, September 8. The program begins at 6:30 in the auditorium. Enjoy the remaining days of summer. As always, if you have any questions, please call the office.
